Most common are Phillips, 1/4, and 5/16 fittings. - Its your best friend to help pry things apart and get leverage when needed. - You need these to help pull things off such as terminal leads. - To adapt and strip wiring to match up to your units specs. - For loosening and tightening bolts or set screws. - Youll need this to make sure you position the fan blade correctly on the new motor. - Something to loosen up all those years of use. - Have to have this. It will help you make sure power is off and items are disengaged before servicing. It can also reveal voltage shortages or inaccurate voltage feeds. - This is what you can use to disengage the capacitor. - You most likely will need this as most fans have been on units for years and are stuck on there like glue. or - In some cases, you need to cut the shaft down to match the original or cut the shaft to the old motor to get it off. Just make sure you have metal cutting blades or it wont work correctly. The Supplying Demand Shaft Blaster cuts a motor shaft in 20-30 seconds. If you have a power drill, you can use it!The number listed beside "PH" on the label should match the Phase on the motor that you are purchasing.The Voltage is typically the same, as most HVAC units run on 208/230 Voltage, but you should always double-check to be sure.A bad capacitor can cause symptoms similar to a bad motor.If the capacitor is bad on your old unit, it will send the wrong voltage to the motor.This can possibly cause it to overheat, not start, or run slowly. It is recommended to change the capacitor at the same time that you change the motor.Capacitors are sold separately from the motor.
